Head of The Schuylkill Regatta
The Head of the Schuylkill Regatta (HOSR) began in 1970 as a single-day, 1,000-meter race for graduate sculls, founded by members of the University Barge Club. It was renamed the Thomas Eakins Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in 1975, grew to include a wide range of athletes, and became a two-day event in 2008. Today, it is one of the largest regattas in the country, attracting thousands of competitors and spectators to the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia
