RBCC Mission & Vision Statement

Our mission is to enrich the lives of student athletes of Radnor High School through their participation in the sport of rowing.
We are dedicated to developing and maintain a top tier high school boys rowing program. We will achieve this by instilling in our rowers the value of physical & mental fitness, teamwork, resilience, strong academics & good character.
To sustain our mission, we will engage our membership, our alumni and the Radnor community for leadership an support.

WELCOME

For those of you who are veterans, you've been bitten by the bug and are hooked: You have our utmost respect. It takes a tremendous amount of discipline and energy to row six days a week. For those fresh faces in the crowd, you are about to begin a new, different, unpredictable and always exciting experience—one that can leave a lasting impact on your life.

Today, Radnor Boys Crew Club (RBCC)  is recognized as a club sport with the endorsement of RHS. We are supported through seasonal dues and fundraising, and we are governed by a board composed of parent volunteers. The involvement of our parents is critical to the continued success of our club. Parent meetings are held monthly during the school year.

RBCC races in boats with eight seats and four seats (categorized as "sweep" rowing) in several racing categories, including freshman, novice, junior varsity and varsity. Within some of those categories, we also row in the lightweight division during the spring season. Each of our boats has a coxswain (or "cox"), who sits in the back and controls the boat as well as directs and motivates the rowers.

For rowing terminology and other helpful information about the sport, we encourage you to review Crew Parenting 101.

The Radnor Boys Crew Club is a club team providing opportunity for Radnor High School students to compete in the sport of rowing. An overriding goal of of the club is to develop all participants as high school rowers, as athletes, and as young adults who train and compete in a demanding sport which asks athletes to give their all.

Crew is a varsity club sport at Radnor High School. The Radnor Boys Crew Club was formed in 2003 with about 18 rowers. Enrollment has since grown to nearly 40 athletes a season, providing the opportunity for Radnor Boys Crew Club to be one of the most competitive public high school crew teams in the region. Crew is a varsity club sport at RHS, meaning the club is responsible for hiring and paying coaches’ salaries, which is funded through seasonal dues and fundraising efforts.  Radnor Crew Club belongs to the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association (PSRA), which governs local high school rowing.  The coaching staff is comprised of seasoned veterans of the sport with collegiate and national rowing experience as well as extensive coaching experience.  RBCC owns several boats that are stored at a boathouse in Conshohocken where the team practices.

The club began expanding around 2008 to include a fall season and became more competitive soon after.  Highlights include medalling at regattas such as Stotesbury (the largest high school regatta in the world), SRAA Nationals, Mid-Atlantic Youth Championships, and Philadelphia City Championships.
Radnor Boys' Crew Club also competes annually at the Head of the Charles Regatta in October in Boston.
Since becoming more competitive in rowing, several Radnor athletes have gone on to row in college. Radnor Boys' Crew Club has had athletes go on to compete at Bucknell, Temple, U of Wisconsin and Yale--to name just a few!
